Nothing else would have made ailing 49-year-old Agnes Sandanam of Singapore happier than meeting her favourite Indian actor Rajinikanth.
Agnes, who suffers from end-stage heart failure, had an unfulfilled wish since she was 12 - and that was to meet Rajinikanth, 65.
"I have been a fanatic fan of the superstar since I was 12 years old, and now I have a critical health condition. My last wish was to meet him," she told Bernama after meeting Rajinikanth here recently.
She said she requested Sri Shankar Ganesh, the founder and chairman of the Isai Empire group of companies, to help set up a meeting with the actor, and he did.
Wheelchair-bound Agnes said the meeting in Kuala Lumpur was the "most memorable day" in her life.
"I am so pleased and delighted that I was able to meet my superstar in real life and I have no words to express my feelings because my last yearning in life has been fulfilled," she said in tears.
Agnes described the movie star as a down-to-earth, humble and friendly person.
She said Rajinikanth told her he was amazed and happy that she had come all the way from Singapore to meet him in Kuala Lumpur despite her health condition.
Meanwhile, Sri Shankar Ganesh, better known as Funky Shankar, said he felt privileged and happy to have helped fulfil Agnes' wish.
"We waited from 7 pm at the hotel where Rajinikanth was staying and were able to meet him at 10 pm. I would say Rajinikanth is truly a humble and amiable person in real life, and that makes everyone like him," he said.
Rajinikanth was in Malaysia for the shooting of his new film 'Kabali'.
