Additional measures to minimise assassination style killings - Khalid

The police are taking additional measures to reduce cases of assassination-style killings using firearms in the country.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the shootings were not random acts but with a motive.

"There is a reason behind each of the shooting that had taken place. They were not carried out by mad men shooting here and there. So, we are taking additional measures to minimise such cases," he told a media conference here, today.

On the shooting of a money changer at the Taman Ibu Kota-Jalan Genting Klang traffic light junction yesterday, Khalid believed the four suspects were still in the country.

"We are still tracking the suspects and they cannot possibly go far from here. Police will also investigate the overall aspect of the case including possible involvement in secret societies. So, let the police complete their investigation first," he said.

In the incident at 3.35pm, the victim was hit 10 times from 18 shots fired by two pillion riders on two motorcycles, and died from serious injuries to the head, body and thigh.
