Address Muslim disunity caused by political wrangling - Dakwah council
MAHMOOD: The situation was likely to encourage Muslims to 'view the truth' based on the leaders they trusted, rather than on the basis of the objectives or goals of a political party. -Filepix
Mudslinging among political leaders - shaming and discrediting one another - should cease as it only divides Muslims, says the National Dakwah Council.
Its chairman, Professor Datuk Mahmood Zuhdi Abdul Majid said what was said was that mudslinging led to confusion among the public to determine the truth behind debated issues.
He said the situation was likely to encourage Muslims to 'view the truth' based on the leaders they trusted, rather than on the basis of the objectives or goals of a political party.
"If it's only about power struggle among politicians, then it is their job but if the act of 'mutual expose' affected unity and adversely affected the economy and faith of the people, we cannot just let it continue unabated," he added.
