Tan Sri Adenan Satem on Friday took oath as Sarawak's fifth chief minister at the Astana Negeri, Kuching.
The 70-year-old Special Functions Minister and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief took over the position from Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, 78.
The oath taking ceremony began at 9.30am this morning.
Adenan first had an audience with the out-going Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin, who gave the consent for the proceedings and handed Adenan his letter of appointment.
Adenan then took his oath of office.
The oath taking ceremony took place in the presence of the Governor and some 300 guests comprising state and federal ministers, elected representatives, local dignitaries, heads of government departments and community leaders.
Following Adenan's swearing in, the farewell cerenomy for Tun Abang Muhammad was held.
This will make way for Taib to be sworn in as the next Yang Dipertua of Sarawak this Saturday at the Sarawak state assembly.
