Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the reduced fish supply due to rough sea conditions would be supplemented by aquaculture products.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry (MOA) has assured the public of adequate fish supply, despite the king tide affecting several states on the west coast.
Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the reduced fish supply due to rough sea conditions would be supplemented by aquaculture products.
"We do not rely on marine fish to meet demand for our supply. That is why we increased the fish supply via aquaculture projects in the rivers and ponds," he told reporters at the 6th MOA convocation ceremony, Sunday.
Tajuddin said aquaculture fish production has exceeded demand by 20 percent and will be increased to 50 percent by 2020.
"In addition, we will also take fish supply from areas not affected by the king tide," he added. -BERNAMA
