Adinda Idris FB account owner under probe for slandering police

Kuantan Police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said the woman claimed police had advised her husband to withdraw the report made by her son, a student of the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) in Gebeng.

The woman's posting went viral on Facebook causing a large number of social media users to post comments, criticising the police, for their action.

"It has smeared the good name of the investigating officer and the Royal Malaysian Police. A report has been made against the woman to facilitate investigations.

"We deny advising the victim's family and regard the claim as slander. We are working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served," he told reporters here, Friday.

The police will open an investigation under Section 500 of the Penal Code for slander although the woman has apologised saying she had misunderstood the situation.

Abdul Aziz said the investigation paper will be delivered to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's (DPP) office for further action.

He advised netizens to stop commenting on the case as they would disrupt police investigations and may be summoned to assist investigations.

The woman's son was riding a motorcycle at 9pm on Dec 18 when he was seriously hurt after a collision with a lorry in Jalan Pintasan Kuantan.

He said the lorry's registration number provided by the victim’s friend was not correct, thus police needed a longer time to track down the driver.
