Previously, the prime minister used the character of "Makcik Kiah" as an analogy in closing his speech when presenting the Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN). But this time it was different when Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today chose a community character called "Pak Salleh".
In a Special Message in conjunction with Labour Day here, he described how Pak Salleh could start his business operations while adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP).
"Starting May 4, this Monday, as I said before, Pak Salleh can reopen his restaurant, and this day or two he can clean the restaurant, clean the dishes, pots and pans, arrange the tables and chairs and buy the stock of raw materials.
"Pak Salleh has to make sure that he has two meters between the tables. This is important so that in the middle there is ample space for customers and employees and there is a safe distance between the customers who eat there," he said.
To ensure social distancing when customers eat, Muhyiddin said Pak Salleh could display a notice by limiting one person per table, depending on the size of the table.
"If the table is large, maybe three or four people. This Pak Salleh must decide.
“Secondly, make a line on the floor in front of the counter. Measure the line at least one meter away from each other.
“This is to ensure that customers line up at least one meter in front of or behind other customers when they want to make payment.
"Buy face masks and give it to employees and make sure they are wearing it at all times. On the first day of the restaurant's opening, check the customer's body temperature before entering the restaurant and use the appropriate body temperature scanner," he added.
In addition, the Prime Minister said Pak Salleh was required to record the names and numbers of the customers and the dates and times they visited his restaurant.
This is because, according to the Prime Minister, it is important to detect close contact in the event of a positive COVID-19 customer visiting Pak Salleh's restaurant.
"So, there is actually a lot of work that Pak Salleh has to do before he can reopen his restaurant.
"All this is important to ensure that no customer of Pak Salleh is infected with COVID 19. The owners of restaurants, food trucks and other food stalls must do the same," he added.
With the implementation of the SOP, the Prime Minister said customers could come eat at the restaurant or buy food safely.
“If you're still unsure, just wrap it up. No need to eat at a restaurant. This might be better,” he said.
