Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali today reiterated that the late DPP Anthony Kevin Morais was not involved in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case and dismissed allegations that his murder was linked to the case.
Mohamed Apandi said it was preposterous for Anthony Kevin's brother, Charles Suresh Morais, to claim that his brother's murder was linked to the case.
"(Anthony) Kevin was never involved in the 1MDB investigations. In fact, when he was transferred back to the AG's Chambers in early July 2014, there was no report in respect of 1MDB yet.
"I need to state that when the brother (Charles Suresh) starts insinuating that the current accused persons are not linked to (Anthony) Kevin's murder, he is seen to be interfering with the pending trial.
"So are his unfounded allegations on the post-mortem of his late brother, (Anthony) Kevin," he said in a text message from Nanning, China. He was responding to questions on Charles Suresh's allegations over his eldest brother's death.
In a statement issued on Sept 7, Mohamed Apandi had denied any involvement of Anthony Kevin in the 1MDB case.
He clarified that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission cases which Anthony Kevin had been handling were those which he had brought along with him for purposes of continuity of prosecution.
At a press conference yesterday, Charles Suresh, the second of the four Morais siblings, released an 18-page statutory declaration.

The SD was, among others, in relation to his originating summons filed in the High Court seeking an independent forensic pathologist of his (Charles Suresh's) choice to conduct a second post-mortem on Anthony Kevin's body.
Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police would call up Charles Suresh over a claim that he had some information on the murder of Anthony Kevin.
"If the brother really has some information, he should surrender it to the police for investigation. Withholding such information can be regarded as an offence.
"I suggest that he (Charles Suresh) share the information with the police so that action can be taken. The police will be unable to act without information on the late (Anthony) Kevin," Khalid told Bernama.
The body of Anthony Kevin, 55, was found in a drum filled with concrete near Persiaran Subang Mewah in Subang Jaya near here on Sept 16 after he was reported missing on Sept 4.
He was last seen leaving his condominium in Menara Duta here for work at the Attorney-General's Office in Putrajaya.
