Agong consents to have talks with Malay rulers

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah consented to receive a briefing by the Prime Minister on the proposals reached by the Special Meeting of the Cabinet yesterday.
Following that, His Majesty will hold talks with the Malay Rulers in the near future to discuss and study the proposals put forward by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The matter was informed by the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Istana Negara Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in a statement today.
"It is informed that Al-Sultan Abdullah fully understands the need for the continuity of the country's administration to combat the threat of the COVID-19 epidemic.
"In fact, His Majesty is also very concerned about the anxiety and annoyance of the people due to this latest development.
"As a result of and following the session yesterday, Al-Sultan Abdullah has consented to hold talks with the Malay Rulers at Istana Negara in the near future to discuss and study the proposals that have been put forward," he said.
Ahmad Fadil said Al-Sultan Abdullah has consented to grant Muhyiddin an audience at Istana Abdul Aziz, Kuantan at 5 pm yesterday.
The audience was sought by the Prime Minister following the Special Meeting of the Cabinet which he chaired in Putrajaya yesterday morning.
"In this session which lasted for about an hour and a half, Al-Sultan Abdullah consented to receive a briefing on the proposals that have been reached by the Special Meeting of the Cabinet for the consideration and consent of His Majesty for its implementation," he said.
