KUALA LUMPUR: All government and opposition politicians must be open with the order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to jointly overcome the problems that plague the country at this time.
Senior Fellow of the National Council of Professors, Dr Jeniri Amir said the order demands strong cooperation and understanding between the two parties.
According to him, without such cooperation, it could trigger a crisis in the country now facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
"So, both sides should focus on efforts to address this problem (of the people and COVID-19) together instead of doing something that could disrupt the country's political stability," he said in a live interview via AWANI Sarawak slot on Sunday.
Apart from that, Dr Jeniri said all MPs should be mature and never put political and personal interests ahead of the people's interests.
In fact, he said, the mature attitude should also be translated ahead of the Dewan Rakyat sitting and the tabling of the 2021 Budget early next month.
"All leaders need to support the Budget that will be tabled to enable this country to address any problems due to the COVID-19 threat.
"If this (support) does not happen and the 2021 Budget fails to be approved, it will cause problems for the country.
"In this regard, all wrongdoings should be placed fully on the members of Parliament who do not support the Budget and thus make it difficult for the people," he said.
Earlier in his speech, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong reminded politicians to immediately stop all politicking that could disrupt the stability of the country's administration.
His Majesty also argued that there was no need for MPs to continue irresponsible actions that could disrupt the stability of the existing government.
