Ahmad Said, 10 Terengganu State Executive Councillors sworn in today

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said leads the list of state executive council members to take their oath of office at Istana Maziah here today.

The swearing-in ceremony was held before the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Ahmad, 56, who is Terengganu Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, is appointed Terengganu Menteri Besar for the second term following the coalition's victory in winning 17 of the state seats in Sunday's 13th general election.

Ahmad retained the Kijal state seat with a 4,204-vote majority against PAS' Hazri Jusoh.
Ahmad, the eighth Terengganu Menteri Besar, was first appointed to the post on March 2008.

Besides the menteri besar post, Ahmad also holds the portfolios on planning, finance, investment, land, petroleum, natural resources, local government and housing.

The state executive councillors who were sworn included three old face. One of them, Datuk Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman (Seberang Takir), is appointed chairman of the Science & Technology, Environment, Green Technology and Water Committee.

The other two are Rozi Mamat (Telemung), as State Youth & Sports and Human resource Committee chairman, and Dr A Rahman Mokhtar (Kuala Besut) who heads the state committee on health, women, family and community development.

Also appointed to the state cabinet lineup are:

1. Former State Assembly Speaker Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku  Awang (Kuala Berang) as Industry and Trade Committee Chairman

2. Datuk  Mohd Jidin Shafee (Permaisuri) as Tourism, Information, Communications and Culture Committee Chairman

3. Ir Rosli Othman (Kemasik) as Public Works and Transport Committee Chairman

4. Nawi  Mohamad (Hulu Besut) as Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Plantation Industry and Commodity Committee Chairman

5. A Latiff Awang (Pengkalan Berangan) as Government Transformation, Delivery and Performance Management and Information Technology Committee Chairman

6. Roslee Daud (Bukit Besi) as Entrepreneur, Rural Development, Consumerism and Cooperatives Chairman

7. Ghazali Taib (Ajil) as Education, Higher Education, Innovation and Special Functions Committee Chairman.

Also present at the function were State Secretary Datuk Mazlan Ngah, State Legal Adviser Noor Bahri Baharuddin and State Financial Officer Datuk Abdul Razak Ismail.
