Former Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has rejected his appointment as a deputy chairman of a state portfolio.
He was appointed deputy chairman of the Housing and Local Government Committee which is headed by Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafee in a reshuffle of state executive council portfolios announced by Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman yesterday.
Ahmad said he had learned of the appointment from the media and had not received any official letter.
"I feel that I should engage more in voluntary work than being paid a salary as I have retired," he told reporters after a meeting of the Persatuan Pribumi Perkasa here.
Also present was Perkasa Chairman Datuk Ibrahim Ali.
Ibrahim announced the appointment of Ahmad as the Terengganu president of Perkasa, succeeding Datuk Ismail Samah.
