The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) will conduct house-to-house patrols during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said if there was a large number of vehicles outside a home, the authorities would inspect the residence.
“When returning to the village, many thought the police would not control their homes.
"That's right, it is impossible for the police to control every home.
"(However), I was informed by the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador that the police would patrol the area and if there were a lot of vehicles outside a house, they would check the residence," he told a media conference here on Tuesday.
Ismail Sabri said this was to ensure the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was observed on the first day and subsequent days of raya to ensure continued compliance.
He said the PDRM and ATM had agreed to mobilise its members on the first day of the festival and on the following days.
“Therefore, all parties are reminded to abide by the SOP and the rules set forth.
"Cooperation and self-control are all very important in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
Earlier, Ismail Sabri said as of May 18, a total of 250,891 vehicles had been inspected at roadblocks, of which 1,633 vehicles were trying to cross the state borders to return to the village.
He stressed that interstate movements were not allowed except in cases of emergency or occupation, and that cross-border permits must be obtained from the PDRM.
