Air quality improves, more areas with good API in the evening

The number of areas recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings for moderate air quality decreased to eight this evening compared to 11 at noon today.
According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, the areas with moderate API readings included Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (75), Melaka City (68), and Petaling Jaya (58) and Banting in Selangor (56).
Other areas were Putrajaya (55), Bukit Rambai in Melaka (54), Bakar Arang in Kedah and Pasir Gudang in Johor (52).
Meanwhile, among the areas with good API readings were Port Klang (50), Kota Kinabalu (47), Samarahan in Sarawak and Seberang Jaya 2 in Penang (46), SMK Tanjung Chat in Kelantan and Alor Setar (42).
An API reading of 0-50 indicates good air quality, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy), and 300 and above (hazardous).
Members of the public can refer to the portal apims.doe.gov.my to obtain the current API readings.
