Air quality in the country has improved after dropping to the 'very unhealthy' level in some areas over the last few days.

No area nationwide had air quality at the 'unhealthy' level as at 6am on Monday, according to the Department of Environment (DoE).

The Air Pollutant Index (API) readings released by DoE showed 11 areas with a 'moderate' API reading and 41 with a 'good' API reading.

Among the places with a 'moderate' API reading were Muar in Johor (57), Kangar (53), Kuala Selangor in Selangor (60) and Putrajaya (68). Places with a 'good' API reading included Kuala Terengganu (24), Kuching (19), Seri Manjung in Perak (21) and Alor Setar (47).

An API reading of zero to 50 is categorised as good; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 301 and above, hazardous.

The people can surf the http:apims.doe.gov.my portal run by DoE to learn of the API readings for their areas.
