Air quality in Samarahan in Kuching, and Kuala Selangor in Selangor continued to be at an unhealthy level, with air pollutant index (API) readings of 112 and 109 as at 9am today.
The Department of Environment stated in its website that both areas recorded moderate API readings of 82 and 96 at 11pm last night.
In 17 other areas, the air quality was also at an unhealthy level with Port Klang recording an API reading of 140; Pasir Gudang (127); Port Dickson (126); Banting and Shah Alam (123); Kota Tinggi (122); and Nilai and Bukit Rambai (118).
Also 'unhealthy' were Bandaraya Melaka with a reading of 114, Batu Muda (111), Putrajaya (108), Petaling Jaya (107), Seremban (106), Larkin Lama, Balok Baru and Kemaman (103), and Paka (102).
Twenty-eight areas recorded moderate API readings, including Seri Manjung (100); Seberang Jaya 2 (96); Cheras (94); Muar (87); Indera Mahkota (85); Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani (84); and Kuala Terengganu (82).
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is 'good', 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (dangerous).
