Alessandro Michele Is Gucci’s Man Of The Hour

Alessandro Michele won the CFDA 2016 International Designer Award and we aren’t surprised as the designer has an evidently instinctive appreciation of visuals and arts. Michele studied costume design at Rome’s Academy of Costume and Fashion. Then he worked under Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi at Fendi in the late 1990s. He was Creative Director for Richard Ginori in 2014 before being invited to take up his current post at Gucci on January 21 2016. Michele is responsible for all of Gucci’s collections, product categories and the company’s global brand image. His fascination with vintage, the Renaissance and Baroque is well-documented and apparent in his own appearance. He appreciates and comprehends the historical codes of the House, combined with his contemporary sensibility, has created a captivating new narrative for the brand. And this year, he was acknowledged and awarded the International Award by the CFDA for his creative contribution to the fashion stage. Celebrated for his gender-fluid approach to his men’s and women’s collections, which he has decided many times to show together. In our opinion, Michele has unquestionably imbued the house of Gucci with an eclectic and inventive spirit which invigorated the 95-year-old Italian brand.
