KUALA LUMPUR: The marital conflict between singer and actor Aliff Aziz and his wife, actress Bella Astillah, has ended with their divorce finalised at the Syariah Lower Court of the Federal Territory here today.
Aliff, whose full name is Mohamad Aliff Aziz, 33, pronounced the divorce against Bella, whose real name is Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah, 30, before Syariah Judge Wan Mohd Najib Wan Hamat after the court approved the divorce application filed by the actress.
"The court is satisfied that there is no mutual understanding and there has been discord between the couple. Therefore, the court grants the divorce application and confirms the occurrence of a second 'single talaq' divorce effective today, and orders the plaintiff (Bella) to observe the 'iddah' period for three menstrual cycles," said the Syariah judge.
Wan Mohd Najib also recorded the settlement agreement between both parties, whereby the plaintiff waived her rights to mutaah (monetary compensation), iddah maintenance and marital debts, while full custody of the children was granted to the plaintiff.
Earlier, Syariah lawyer Azmi Mohd Rais, representing Bella, informed the court that both parties (Bella and Aliff) would not claim any rights to jointly acquired property. Aliff agreed that full custody of the children would be given to Bella as the biological mother and would not file any disobedience claims against the actress.
Syariah lawyer Abdul Hadi Mohamad Salleh, representing Aliff, confirmed the matter.
The couple, who married on Sept 9, 2016, and have two children, Mohd Ayden Adrean, 6, and Ara Adreanna, 3, had previously divorced with a single talaq on May 16, 2019 at the Syariah Lower Court here, but reconciled during the iddah period.
Meanwhile, Aliff, when met by reporters after the proceedings, said Bella had been given custody of the children as she was their mother.
Bella, who appeared calm, expressed her gratitude and said she would not demand any maintenance, as her children were the most meaningful possession she could have.
