All districts in Perak will have Tahfiz secondary school with boarding facilities, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said Saturday.
The move, he said, was to ensure the availability of integrated education for children in the state.
He said several of these schools would be ready within the next two to three years, like the Sekolah Menengah Tahfiz (SMT) pilot project in Pulau Pangkor.
"The SMT pilot project in Pulau Pangkor is almost ready. It is among the model state government boarding schools," he told a press conference after visiting the site for the construction of SMT Darul Ridzuan in Manjung here on Saturday.
The school will be built at a cost of about RM10 million and could accommodate 150 students.
On the 2016 Budget recalibration announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Thursday, Zambry said it was to improve the government's revenue.
He said the budget recalibration would have no negative impact on the federal government's expenses and its assistance to the state governments.
"The emphasis is more on enhancing new resources for the government. We hope that in the context of the state, projects planned to have high impact on the rakyat will not be sidelined," he said.
