All five Malaysian research universities listed in ASEAN's top 10 universities

All five research universities in Malaysia are now listed in ASEAN's top 10 universities, according to Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

He said Universiti Malaya (UM) was ranked third of ASEAN's best universities, while Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) were ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

"Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is at seventh place, while Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is at eighth place," he said in his speech at the signing ceremony of Public University Teaching Hospital Consortium (KHUAM) Memorandum of Agreement and 'Aku Janji' pledge to create effective and efficient knowledge, expertise and facility sharing among the universities, here Thursday.

Also listed in the top 10 were universities from Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

Last week, the five Malaysian research universities were also listed in the one per cent of the world''s top universities for 2017/2018 by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
