All Malaysians safe in Turkey
All 93 registered Malaysians in Turkey are reported to be safe although mass street protests have convulsed the country for days.
"The Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara recorded 93 registered Malaysians in Turkey, including 17 students. From the total, 30 of them reside in Istanbul, including eight students," according to a statement from Wisma Putra.
The Foreign Ministry is continuously monitoring the development in Turkey, particularly in Istanbul, and other major cities in the country, it added.
On May 30, police cracked down on a peaceful rally in Istanbul against plans to build over Gezi Park and to date, a total of 115 members of security forces and 58 civilians were reportedly injured, according to foreign news reports.
