Allow PAC to complete investigation before talking about debate - Teck Meng

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) committee member Datuk Liang Teck Meng is urging all political members to allow the committee to investigate the national strategic investment arm, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) before talking about the debate.

Teck Meng who is also Simpang Renggam MP stressed that the investigation performed by PAC is the best platform for the truth to be exposed.

In line with that committee members should be allowed to perform the job entrusted by the Parliament.

“PAC inquiry is the best platform if the truth is really what you seek.

“But it appears certain politicians want to continue to gain political mileage out of this,” said Teck Meng in a statement today

This was in reply to the allegations made by Pandan MP, Rafizi Ramli who characterised 1MDB President and Executive, Arul Kanda Kandasamy of ‘hiding behind’ Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who stated that the debate should only be held after PAC completes its investigation into the company.

Teck Meng stated as a witness, Arul Kanda has the rights to defend 1MDB without prejudice during the PAC hearing.

Rafizi also said that Teck Meng should be aware that Arul Kanda’s acceptance to the debate with Petaling Jaya Utara MP, Tony Pua is due to the many challenges and childish taunts made by YB Tony Pua.

“Rafizi should not feel that he should redeem his honour after this ridicule and attempt to seek publicity to bail-out YB Tony from the challenge that Tony personally made,” said Teck Meng.
