Teachers from Stockholm International School revealed that the two children of the Malaysian couple detained in Sweden, Ammar and Adam admitted to being hit by their parents when asked why they were sad.
The prosecutor, Anna Arnell questioned the two teachers in English and the other three in Swedish which were translated to English.
All five teachers testified before Chief Judge Mattias Moller in Solna District Court on the ninth day of the trial yesterday.
The trial also saw Anna Arnell played back an audio recording in which Azizul said he beat the kids last year in Spanga for not praying properly despite his live testimony to the contrary.
During the court hearing last week, Azizul said he only beat the children once but not in Sweden.
The audio recording presented was recorded during one of the interviews with Azizul and the authorities prior to the court hearing.
Both Shalwati and Azizul appeared calm throughout the court hearing.
It was also an emotional moment for Shalwati yesterday when she was allowed to talk to her sister, Shalena who is also the current guardian for all four children.
The couple have yet to meet their children since they were detained for violation of integrity of their children.
Azizul, an officer with Tourism Malaysia and his wife, Shalwati Nor Shal, a teacher on unpaid leave have been detained since Dec 2013 for allegedly abusing their four children in their home in Spanga, Sweden.
Their children Aisyah, 14, Ammar 12, Adam 11 and Arif 7, who are now under the care of their aunt in Kelantan were brought home from Sweden by Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin, last month.
The trial commenced on February 18 and expected to run until March 12.
