Ampang crime index declines 14.25 percent
ABDUL SAMAH: The decline in crime rate is the result of good cooperation between the police and the community.
The crime index for Ampang district declined by 14.25 percent from January to November this year.
Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the number of cases dropped to 2,949 from 3,439 cases over the corresponding period last year.
"The decline is the result of good cooperation between the police and the community," he said after the handing over of duty by Ampang Jaya police chief SAC Khairuldin Saad to his successor ACP Hamzah Alias here, yesterday.
Abdul Samah said the community policing programme should be enhanced as the public has an important role in helping to solve crime related issues.
"Develop strategies to curb criminal activities. The community policing concept has served us well," he added.
