Another suspect detained in Ayer Tawar pile-up

Police detained another suspect to facilitate the 10-vehicle pile up involving a Seri Manjung Road Transport Department (RTD) four-wheel drive (4WD) in Pekan Ayer Tawar last Friday.
Perak deputy police chief SAC Datuk A. Paramasivam said a 40-year-old suspect was detained at Taman Muhibbah, Sitiawan on Jan 12.
"This brings to four the number of suspects detained. The others are 17, 40 and 33, from Ayer Tawar, and Changkat Keruing, Pantai Remis," he told reporters here today.
"So far our investigations show that the lorry skidded due to speeding and hit the bus, causing the pile up," he said.
Fourteen people were hurt in the accident, after which the RTD's 4WD was overturned and torched by members of the public at Km12 Jalan Sitiawan-Ipoh, in front of the Methodist School, Ayer Tawar.
On a separate case, Paramasivam said police fired four shots at two suspects, 27 and 29, after they tried to slash them with machetes to evade arrest.
Based on a report, the suspects and another man still at large, were believed to have slashed two victims, aged 54 and 34 at an entertainment outlet prior to the shooting.
Both suspects were from Klang, Selangor and one had a previous criminal record, while the victims, who sustained head injuries were warded at the Seri Manjung Hospital, he said.
In MUAR, police detained four men taking drugs and seized a .22 calibre air rifle and 12 palettes of bullets during a raid at a house in Lorong Yusof, Batu 23, Lenga, last Saturday.
Muar deputy police chief Supt Shahadan Jaafar said 0.41 grammes of Syabu, 36.1 grammes of ganja and six eramine 5 pills were also seized from the house.
All the suspects tested positive for heroin and will be charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added.
In SHAH ALAM, police are appealing to the public with any missing family member to assist them with identifying the body of a legless man found at a housing project site at Taman Permai, Subang Bestari.
Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Junaidi Bujang said the body was partially decomposed with a broken skull caused by multiple blunt force traumas, according to a pathologist report.
The deceased was wearing a black t-shirt with 'Monster Energy' printed on it and a Levi's knee length jeans.
The body is at the Sungai Buloh Hospital morgue and anyone with related information may contact investigating officer ASP Mohd Radzi at 019-3502320, he said.
In KUANTAN, three friends suffered dire consequences when the motorbike they were on skidded and crashed into a lamp post at Km 7 Jalan Pekan-Nenasi near Pekan, late yesterday evening.
