A 35-year-old man was detained on Monday to assist in investigations into the death of Estonian model Regina Soosalu at Pulau Rawa on July 1.

Johor CID chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the man hailed from Kuala Lumpur.

"Six other suspects are being detained in connection with the murder of the Estonian woman at Pulau Rawa, Mersing," he said in a statement today.

He said police had obtained a six-day extension of the remand on four of the suspects, from today until July 27.

"The other two who have been remanded for four days from yesterday, are also being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.

Hasnan urged the public not to make any speculations and allow police to complete their investigations.

He said the public could contact the Johor police operations room at 07-2212999 should they have any information on the case.
