The Mara Junior Science College alumni (Ansara) is confident of reaching its accumulated target of 50,000 pints of blood through its Pre-Ramadan blood donation campaign, this year.
Kedah Menteri Besar and Alumni president Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said 38,716 pints had been collected since the campaign was launched in 2007.
The nationwide campaign which is in its seventh is aimed at helping the National Blood Centre cope with the increasing demand during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri in August, he said.
"The campaign will be held at 46 locations around the country during its last day tomorrow," Mukhriz said at the launch of the World Blood Donors Day and state level Pre-Ramadan blood donation campaign here today.
"People, especially Muslims have a misconception about donating blood and think it is harmful," he said adding that maybe the Northern Region Blood Centre could collaborate with mosque committees to hold such campaigns after the Tarawikh prayers.
