The Anti-Bersih 4.0 group has postponed their intention to gather at Low Yat Plaza and march to Dataran Merdeka as part of their protest this Saturday.
The group's leader Datuk Jamal Md Yunus said the decision was made to respect the police’s advice to not gather on August 29.
“We met with the City police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa and Dang Wangi OCPD Zainol Samah, at the Dang Wangi police station around 4.30pm. Our statements were taken.
“The police also had a meeting in which they told us to postpone the rally. We decided to heed their advice and agreed to postpone our plans to allow the police to focus on the Bersih 4.0 rally, " he told Astro AWANI .
Jamal said the group do not want to be seen as citizens who do not abide by the country’s law.
Jamal also said the new date and venue of the rally has not been decided yet.
He said that 30,000 t-shirts have already been made for the anti-Bersih 4.0 participants and a deposit of RM500 each had been paid for some 250 buses set to bring in the participants to the protest venue.
The group had originally planned to gather at Low Yat Plaza on Saturday, starting from 2am, and march to Dataran Merdeka via Jalan Pudu at 10am.
