Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has denied that the government has collapsed as alleged by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a special press conference earlier today.
The Rembau Member of Parliament, via a tweet on his Twitter, said that the Cabinet Meeting was running as usual today although Anwar claimed to have enough support to form a new government.
And that support, Anwar claimed, was also present from several MPs under the Perikatan Nasional government.
“Just finished the Cabinet meeting. Nothing has fallen or fell,” said Khairy, while attaching a picture showing the state of the meeting in Putrajaya just now.
Earlier, Anwar claimed that the government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had fallen due to the lack of a majority required in the Dewan Rakyat.
In the press conference, he said, the support received to make him Prime Minister was “formidable and convincing”, not just an additional 5 - 10 Members of Parliament only.
