Anwar expected to debate Budget 2015 issues in Parliament today
Anwar is expected to discuss details of Budget 2015 from the oppositions point of view and how it can or will affect Pakatan Rakyat
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to debate issues pertaining to Budget 2015 in the Parliament on Monday.
According to a Parliament spokesman, it was a norm for this to happen during the first Parliament sitting after the budget is tabled every year.
"The Opposition Leader will kick-start the debate session and matters to be addressed are expected to be details from the recently tabled budget," the spokesman said when contacted Sunday.
However, the spokesman said this was only what was expected to occur, based on past years' happenings.
The spokesman said, Anwar was expected to discuss the budget from the opposition’s point of view and how it could or would affect Pakatan Rakyat.
Last Friday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had tabled the Budget 2015, of which many quarters had lauded as ‘rakyat-friendly’.
Among the incentives included that would benefit the people was the increment of 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) amount from RM650 to RM950 for certain households.
The budget had also received the thumbs-up from Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, who had said the increment in BR1M, the initiatives to combat corruption and efforts to reduce the price of items will benefit all levels of society.
"The first Parliament sitting after the budget tabling is a much-awaited event because everyone's curious to see what sort of issues the Opposition Leader will play up," the spokesman added.
