PKR de-facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is urging for the water rationing in Selangor to stop following the increase in water level at the Sungai Selangor Dam and other dams.
Anwar said the total water level at the Sungai Selangor Dam has increased from 38.97 percent (89.63 million cubic metres) to 40.23 percent (92.53 million cubic metres).
“Although the total has not reached the 42 percent level as announced previously, I am urging the Selangor government to stop the water rationing and to take into account the high water level in other dams,” said Anwar in a statement on Tuesday.
He also called for the people in Klang Valley to be wise in using water in order to help the Selangor government and other responsible parties the opportunity to review the projection based on a lower water consumption rate to avoid any prolonged water rationing in the future.
Residents in Klang Valley especially in Selangor had been facing water crisis following the decline in raw water in dams around Klang Valley.
The Selangor government is expected to make a special announcement on the water rationing in a press conference scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
