Supporters of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today tried to break the barrier in front of the Palace of Justice.
They began marching towards the Palace of Justice at 1.35pm chanting slogans aimed at raising tension but the situation was controlled by policemen on duty.
A commotion broke out when an elderly man holding a stick tried to be abusive to the police and challenged the policemen to open the barrier and to shoot him.
However, the policemen managed to calm the situation and urged him to leave before he was calmed down by Anwar's supporters.
Meanwhile, a Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) helicopter was seen hovering over the Palace of Justice to monitor the situation on the ground.
A PDRM spokesman told Bernama that only one helicopter was deployed to conduct aerial surveillance for the sake of public safety.
In court, lead prosecutor Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah continued his submission to counter arguments of the defence led by Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram.
Anwar,67, is appealing against his conviction and five years' jail sentence for sodomising his former personal aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 27.
