Are we looking at the new Mazda CX-9?

Mazda teases new SUV concept ahead of the 2015 Frankfurt International Motor ShowMazda has released a sketch on its new crossover SUV that we will get to see it in the metal at next month’s 2015 Frankfurt International Motor Show. Dubbed as the Mazda Koeru concept; Koeru stands for exceed or go beyond in Japanese. The new shape takes from the KODO-Soul of Motion portfolio so you can expect this SUV will have the same sharp, predatory aura that the design language is well known for.
Based on the sketch above, we can see that the Mazda’s new five-door SUV will take on a more swept-back, coupe-like appearance, similar to the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. So what are we actually looking at? Since the CX-3 and the CX-5, successor to the CX-7, are now roaming the wilds, there’s only one more number to look at – the seven-seater CX-9, which is due for a model change.
Or, Mazda might throw a curveball and introduce a whole new number. No matter which way the door swings on this one, this one will be another interesting model from Mazda.
