Armed forces commander pays last respects to Kanang Langkau
A steady stream of relatives, friends, dignitaries and members of the public paid their last respects to the late Warrant Officer 1 (R) Datuk Temenggong Kanang Langkau at the Dewan Suarah, Kuching.
Among the dignitaries was Malaysian Armed Forces Commander, Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.
He arrived at 11.50 am, paid his last respects, spoke to the late Kanang's family and signed the condolence book.
Also present were Army Commander Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin; Air Force Commander Gen Tan Sri Rodzali Daud and Navy Vice-Admiral Datuk Mohammed Noordin Ali.
They were greeted by Division 1 Camp Commander Maj Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar.
Also paying their last respects were 78 armed forces veterans from Ranger 1 and 8, and Royal Malay Regiment who were specially flown over from the Subang airbase.
National hero, Kanang Langkau will be given a state funeral with a procession from Dewan Suarah to St Thomas Cathedral, Kuching, for prayers before a burial ceremony at the Heroes Mausoleum at Jalan Taman Budaya at 3 pm.
