Armed Forces personnel, son die in accident on East Coast Expressway

KUANTAN: An armed forces personnel and his son died when their vehicle was involved in an accident with a Toyota Hilux at Kilometre137.5 of the East Coast Expressway heading to Kuantan here today.
Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Kamarulzaman Jusoh said Mohamad Kausa Mustafa, 36, and his five-year-old son Muhammad Ridwan died at the scene of the accident at around 1.50 pm.
He said the victim's wife, Ainul Yaqin Mokhtar, 31, and their two other children, Nursyuhada, eight, and six-day-old baby Nur Sakinah, who were also in their Perodua Viva car sustained injuries and were treated at Temerloh Hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the car the family was in was said to have braked suddenly, resulting in the Toyota Hilux ramming into the right rear of the vehicle, he said.
"The accident caused the victim's car to skid to the left side of the road," he said in a statement tonight, adding that the 21-year-old Toyota Hilux driver and his 46-year-old passenger sustained only minor injuries.
