Arrest warrant issued against actress Zarina Anjoulie

The Magistrate's Court here today issued a warrant of arrest against actress and model Zarina Anjoulie for failing to appear in court to face a drug charge.

Magistrate Mohd Nazri Omran made the order after allowing the application by deputy public prosecutor Siti Fatimah Yahya for a warrant of arrest to be issued against Zarina, whose real name is Zarina Anjoulie Mohamad Fahizul, 29.

This was the third time Zarina had failed to turn up in court without any valid reason since the court ordered her to defend herself against the charge.

Siti Fatimah said the arrest warrant was also sought because the accused had wasted the court's time and resources.

"The accused always changed lawyers. However, the new lawyer who is supposed to represent the actress also didn't turn up," she said.

The court fixed Nov 5 for mention.

Zarina's guarantor, who declined to reveal his name to the media, told the court that he failed to contact Zarina because she was just a normal friend and she always changed her mobile phone number.

Meanwhile, Zarina's friend, Mohamad Fakhruzaim Mohamad Fawzi, 29, who was charged together with her, appeared in court.

Zarina and Mohamad Fakhruzaim were charged with taking methamphetamine.

They allegedly committed the offence at the Narcotics office of the Damansara police station near here at 8.10pm on Dec 30, 2012.
