After almost two months getting treated at the Singapore University Hospital (HUS), the baby who had been suffering from biliary atresia (a liver disease) since birth, Arshad Imanshah Antashah is scheduled to begin his heart transplant surgery on Oct 30.
His father, Antashah Mohd Nor said, the baby is in a stable condition and has been on a strict nutritional diet as well as consumption of vitamins and supplements ever since being in HUS since last Aug.
“Arshad has been taking Albumin, Vitamin K and his weekly blood transfers to ensure that he is really fit for the surgery," Antashah said.
“Praise to Allah, he has been stable and doctors have informed us that the surgery is scheduled to be held on Oct 30," he said.
Antashah who planned to give half of his liver to his son has also been put on a diet plan and goes through a controlled meal routine for a whole month.

Antashah had earlier said that the surgery, to be done at the HUS, would cost about RM500,000.
The Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) senior lecturer found various ways to save up the amount of money required for the surgery and will also be givin part of his liver to see his second child grow up like other kids.
He said the current condition of Arshad’s bleeding sping is still being examined by the doctors.
“That is the big issue right now, if everything is in good condition, the date of the surgery will not be postponed again.
“I also pray that everything goes smoothly and there are no issues, so that there will not be another postponement to the date that has been set,” he said.

Arshad’s surgery had to be postponed before this due to diarrhoea and vomiting as he needs to be fit for the surgery.
Antashah said at the end of Sept, Arshad was brought back home as he was struggling to pay hospital bills.
“I apologise for having to discharge Arshad from the hospital, as the bill was getting really expensive. Without the surgery, the hospital bills had already reached RM100,000," he said.
“The fund is enough so far for the surgery, hopefully there are not many consecutive problems in the future as that would cost more money, “ he said when asked if the money from the public was sufficient.
