The authority of police or the Home Ministry should not be challenged as such act would only be detrimental to the nation, says Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
"The majority of the people need not fear the voice of the minority as police will take appropriate action," he said.
He was asked to comment on the statement by Malay Armed Forces Veterans Association president Mohd Ali Bahrom or better known as Ali Tinju yesterday that Melaka Raya would not be safe during the Gerakan Merah assembly planned for this Saturday.
Nur Jazlan said the assembly could be considered an illegal assembly as it is taking place at a venue disallowed by the police.
"If the assembly is held at a location allowed by police, the organisers still require prior permission from the local authority under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012," he said.
He said KDN viewed the matter seriously as it could harm the country's unity.
Commenting on the Red Shirt assembly planned in Kajang on Oct 18, Nur Jazlan said such assembly would not bring any benefit to the country and police would take the appropriate action.
