Astro Audio apologises for controversial video, suspends announcers

Astro Audio, a division of Malaysian media giant Astro, operates some of the country’s most popular radio stations, including ERA, SINAR, and HITZ.
KUALA LUMPUR: Astro Audio deeply regrets the recent incident involving a video featuring our announcers Nabil Ahmad, Azad Jasmin and Radin which was shared on ERA’s social media platforms.
We sincerely apologise for causing hurt and disappointment to those who are affected. Our announcers have acknowledged their mistake and have issued a public apology.
We continue to conduct a thorough internal investigation. As part of same, our CEO and senior
leaders have met with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) earlier
today.
We are cooperating closely with the authorities and regulators to ensure full compliance with all guidelines and requirements.
In line with these investigations, we have suspended the three announcers and two additional staff
members.
Astro Audio is committed to upholding the trust of our listeners and maintaining a respectful and inclusive media environment. We are taking steps to strengthen our content review processes to ensure that we continue to create programming that reflects the values and expectations of our audience.
We deeply appreciate the feedback, concerns, and guidance from all parties and remain committed
to ensuring that all our content adheres to the required guidelines and regulations.
