KUALA LUMPUR: Astro AWANI Network Sdn Bhd has once again solidified its status as the country's most trusted news brand, a title it has held for six years in a row.
This achievement has been reaffirmed by the 2023 Reuters Institute Digital News Report, in collaboration with Oxford University, which ranks Astro AWANI as the top news source with a trust rating of 70 per cent.
The network's closest competitors in the ranking include Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), The Star, Berita Harian, Malaysiakini, and TV9.
According to the report, Astro AWANI's commitment to delivering accurate and reliable news to its audience has been recognised not only in terms of trust but also in its expansive reach across various media platforms.
The network has secured the second position for both offline and online weekly reach in the categories of television, radio, print media, and online news consumption.
The study further highlights Astro AWANI's continued dedication to innovation and critical reporting within the broadcasting landscape.
By embracing new technologies and approaches, the network has demonstrated its adaptability to the evolving media landscape while maintaining its commitment to quality journalism. This has contributed to its continued relevance and appeal to the younger generation of Malaysians, a demographic for which Astro AWANI's content is particularly well suited.
It adds that the network has successfully curated a line-up of young presenters who resonate with and effectively engage this audience segment.
The study also reveals an encouraging trend in the overall trust placed in news media, with a four-percentage-point increase compared to the previous year.
The network's performance in this area is a testament to its ongoing efforts to build and maintain public trust, which is a vital element in the dissemination of news, the report says.
