Astro AWANI continues to maintain its reputation as the most trusted news source in the country as it becomes the top downloaded news app on the Google Play Store in Malaysia.
According to technology portal SimilarWeb, the Astro AWANI news app was in the top spot followed by two other local news apps, The Star and Berita Harian, respectively, in ninth and 14th.
SimilarWeb is a website that provides business analytics services based in New York, United States. The company offers its customers information on website traffic records, referral sources, demographic analysis and several other features.
Astro AWANI’s selection was based on an algorithm that records the frequency of current downloads and active users within the country.
Astro AWANI news app contains up-to-date, comprehensive and credible news including political, general, economic, economic, entertainment and sports news.
Last month, the Reuters Institute of Digital News Studies 2020 in its report placed Astro AWANI as Malaysia's Most Trusted News Brand.
It was followed by Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) in second and The Star in third.
"Astro AWANI stands at the forefront of the most trusted news brand, which also highlights critical approaches to the discussion of news and current affairs," the report added.
In 2019, Astro AWANI was ranked second for the Most Trusted News Brands in Malaysia, while in 2018, Astro AWANI was in the top spot according to Reuters Digital News Report.
