A visual editor for Astro AWANI escapes unscathed as the car he was driving in was struck by a falling tree near Padang Merbok, Jalan Parlimen earlier this evening.
The incident occurred at 3pm when Mohd Shafik Firdaus Mokhtar, 24, was driving to his work at Bukit Kewangan, Kuala Lumpur.
According to him, the incident took place when he was trapped in a traffic jam along Jalan Parlimen.
“The weather was cloudy with strong winds. My car was approaching the train tunnel near SK Sultan shamuddin Alam Shah. I saw branches and leaves falling out,” Mohd Shafik said.
Unexpectedly the tree then fell on the roof of his car.
A Mitsubishi Lancer behind Mohd Shafik’s Proton Persona was also struck by a falling tree.
Even though some parts of the car were badly damaged, Mohd Shafik and two other victims who were in the Mitsubishi Lancer didn’t experience any serious injury.
“Even though my car was badly damanged, I’m grateful I didn’t suffer any injury,” Mohd Shafik said.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) arrived some 45 minutes later to cut down parts of the fallen tree.
