Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd Group CEO Datuk Rohana Rozhan has been appointed as Adjunct Professor at the School of Creative Industry Management & Performing Arts in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), to share her vast experience and knowledge in the creative industry with the students.
Prof Rohana on Thursday received a letter of appointment from UUM vice chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Mohamed Mustafa Ishak in a ceremony held at the All Asia Broadcast Centre in Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil.
The ceremony was witnessed by over 40 personnel including UUM deans and students, Astro’s senior management team, scholars and employees who are currently pursuing their post-graduate degrees at the university.
Prof Mohamed Mustafa said UUM believed that Rohana’s accomplishments, knowledge and experience needed to be channeled towards the university’s creative industry programmes.
In her speech, Rohana commended UUM for investing in the School of Creative Industry Management and Performing Arts and noted that Malaysia has the most creative talent and the best chance to be a significant force in ASEAN's media industry.
"I am extremely humbled by the opportunity to serve as Adjunct Professor of UUM and we look forward to more win-win collaborations with UUM, especially in our industry and for Malaysians to be a pipeline for a digitally savvy and creative talent force, fit-for-purpose to compete and create value in the new world order," she said.
Speaking to Astro AWANI later, Rohana said is there was a good piece of advice she could tell the students, it would be to have the ability to dream and to continuously be curious.
"When you dream, you dream of something that doesn't already exist. And it's important to be curious every day, to have more questions every day than your ability to have answers. To continue to learn and listen.
"Humility is key. Don't think that we know everything already but focus on the need to know more. And you need to drive yourself and have passion in what you do. Not every day is going to be an easy day but if you realise the reality that there is something bigger than yourself, it will make you get up every day, even on a bad day, and continue your fight," she said.
Prof Rohana's two-year tenure as adjunct professor from Oct 1 will end on Sept 30, 2019.
