Astro Sound+Vision (AS+V) provides comprehensive, world-class post-production services for feature films, TV shows, and streaming series. Whether content plays on large cinema screens or handheld devices, AS+V focuses on delivering an extraordinary audiovisual experience to captivate audiences globally.
The official launch was hosted at AS+V’s new post-production mix hall in Kuala Lumpur, a facility certified by Dolby Atmos for cinema. Alongside Astro’s existing Dolby Atmos-certified space in Bukit Jalil for streaming and broadcast, AS+V is the only provider in Malaysia offering fully integrated audio mixing that adheres to global standards for cinema, broadcast, and streaming platforms.
AS+V’s services span audio engineering, sound design, foley work, location sound, ADR (additional dialogue recording), music scoring, premix to final Dolby Atmos audio mixing, color grading, DCP mastering, production lab services, 35mm film restoration for digital platforms, 4K/HDR output, and Dolby Vision-certified visual delivery.
Euan Smith, Group CEO of Astro, expressed his excitement: “At Astro, we treat post production as an art form. As Malaysia’s leading content creator and distributor, our goal is to perfect our content and bring it to audiences at a global standard for an exceptional audio-visual journey.”
He added that AS+V’s mission isn’t just about Astro’s productions.
“High-quality post-production is crucial for Malaysian content aiming for international success. Many global platforms have strict post-production requirements.
Astro Sound+Vision rises to that challenge, offering Dolby Vision and Atmos certifications to meet those benchmarks. This enables Malaysian content to reach broader audiences and unlock global revenue streams.”
Before its official launch, AS+V had already completed post-production for various Astro and external films and contributed to two major Hollywood and UK productions in Malaysia.
“With four upcoming films and four series from Astro in our queue, plus seven additional projects from Malaysia and overseas, our pipeline is growing rapidly,” Smith shared.
YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications emphasized the significance of Astro Studios as a symbol of Malaysia’s creative potential, stating, "Astro Studios represents our ambition to tell stories that resonate beyond borders and reflects what our creative community can achieve when we invest in talent and opportunity. This aligns with the Government’s MADANI Creative Youth Programme, which empowers 16,000 young Malaysians to explore the arts, take risks, and dream boldly. Our voices matter, and they
deserve to be heard on the world stage."
Key industry figures attended the launch, including officials from the Ministry of Communications, FINAS (The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia), international streaming giants iQIYI and Viu, and both local and international filmmakers.
