Astro wins BPL broadcasts rights

Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, Malaysia's leading integrated consumer media entertainment group, has won the tender for broadcasting rights to the Barclays Premier League (BPL) in Malaysia for three seasons starting from the 2013/14 to 2015/2016 seasons.
Under this arrangement, all the 380 BPL matches will be televised live on Astro.
"We are excited to further strengthen our association with the most popular football league by bringing three more football seasons action from the BPL.
"Since 1997, Astro has been showcasing BPL action as part of a comprehensive bouquet of football programming for the Malaysian football fans.
"Now with Astro On the Go, they can enjoy the best sporting events on their mobile devices wherever they are, as well as from the comfort of their homes," said Astro Malaysia Holdings' Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan.
Meanwhile, Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore said: "We are extremely pleased Astro has chosen to invest in our broadcast rights for the 2013/14 and 2015/16 seasons.
"They are a long-term partner of the Premier League and renowned for quality sports broadcasting.
"We know that they will continue to broadcast the Barclays Premier League to Malaysian football fans in an exciting and innovative manner," he added.
