Audi TT Coupe MK 3 launched in Malaysia

You’ve read all about the all new Audi TT in 2014, now in 2015 Audi Malaysia has brought it in for your driving pleasure. By Jerrica Leong

It was on the cover of our August 2014 issue and it was pitted against the Alfa Romeo 4C and the Porsche Cayman GTS in December 2014 and our UK Counterparts has “come of age” third time around. I assume that that means they have put a stamp of approval on the TT Mk3. Too bad we won’t be able to see the Audi TT in that Vegas Yellow grazing our roads since the Audi TT Coupe comes to Malaysia in ten colours namely: Ibis White, Brilliant Black, Glacier White, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Floret Silver, Monsoon Grey, Nano Grey, Mythos Black and a special Daytona Grey with pearl effect. No sign of the mustard yellow.

The all new Audi TT comes to us shorter than the outgoing generation, measuring at 4177mm that’s 10mm longer than the previous but the car comes with a longer wheelbase. That means the TT has shorter overhangs and an overall more aggressive stance. The horizontal lines that dominates the front and the Singleframe grille is much broader and flatter as well.

The trademark rear spoiler which extends from the trunk lid is still present in the new generation TT. New distinctive xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights now decorate the TT MK3 to reinforce the coupe’s lean and muscular personality.

Remember those turbine jet engine inspired air-conditioner vents that are classic to the TT will make a return in the new generation as well but this time all controls for the air conditioning system directly into its vents. A new multifunction plus sports contour leather-covered steering wheel comes with a flattened rim and shift paddles and seats covered in Alcantara with integrated head restraints decorates the interior.

But what Audi is most proud of in the interior is the new centrepiece of this sports coupe, the Audi virtual cockpit. The cockpit is focused entirely around the driver, a new approach for driver orientation. Encompassing a 12.3-inch hi-res LCD display located just behind the steering wheel, the virtual cockpit is a fully customisable interface that sets new standards in driver engagement.

And now the exciting part, the new Audi TT will arrive in Malaysia with the latest 2.0 TFSI four cylinder in-line petrol engine. The engine dispenses 230bhp and 370Nm from 1600 to 4300rpm. Combine that engine with a six-speed S-tronic transmission, the TT makes the century sprint in 5.9 seconds. Top speed? An electronically-governed 250kph. But don’t worry if this will make the TT guzzle fuel the car has a combined cycle of 6.3-litre/100km and a CO2 emission rating of 146g/km.

Audi would like to highlight the progressive steering system that will help adjust the steering whether in downtown traffic or winding country roads. Good news to all, Audi drive select system comes standard on the new TT. This allows drivers to control the engine characteristics and the steering assistance to suit their specific styles.

The all-new Audi TT is priced at RM284,900.00 on the road without insurance. There is currently only one variant of the TT in Malaysia, Audi AG has yet to decide to bring in the TT S that you saw featured in our previous issues.
