KUALA LUMPUR: An audio recording of a conversation between two individuals who allegedly resembled the voices of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has gone viral on social media.
Through the audio lasting 4 minutes 17 seconds on the Insider Malaysia Facebook account, a voice similar to Anwar was also heard praising Ahmad Zahid's speech at the UMNO General Assembly through a phone call.
The voice said he had not followed the rally closely for 22 years.
"After 22 years, only now I follow the UMNO General Assembly," said a voice similar to Anwar.
"Don't worry, that is only tactical, OK," replied a voice similar to Zahid.
“No, no, okay, okay, I saw your speech and it was good, and then you did mention about the Supreme Council, and of course we want to finish the game.
"But if you already think about the mandate, it's okay, there's just a little work with MT," said the Anwar-like voice.
"You know who my teacher is, right? My teacher who taught this speech is the person I am talking to," replied a voice that was said to be similar to Zahid.
Meanwhile, a voice similar to Ahmad Zahid said, when a mandate is given to the president, then it is easier than a motion.
In the conversation, a voice similar to Anwar also expressed the hope that there would be a minister to resign after the assembly but that did not happen.
"Right, right. Only if we could get one minister to resign… but no one is brave, only that Perak chap, what's his name? Shamsul, if he can (resign)" said a voice similar to Anwar.
The last conversation of the Anwar-like voice said that their efforts were not over and instructed the individual believed to be Ahmad Zahid to carry out an emergency meeting of the MT.
"It's just that it's not over .. we have a little more .. if you can (not very audible) it means you have an MT emergency (meeting), I'm afraid you won't be able to answer like now," he said.
At the end of the conversation, the Anwar-like voice asked to be told to Zahid's wife about his pride.
"Alhamdulillah, tell Midah, this is the first time Anwar is proud," said the individual, ending the call.
