Australia, Asia kick off Earth Hour 2016

The Earth Hour is an effort to raise awareness on carbon pollution and climate change.
Iconic landmarks and skylines were plunged into darkness on Saturday for the "Earth Hour" switch-off.

The iconic Sydney's Opera House and Harbour Bridge in Australia were among the earliest venues blacked out for 60 minutes at 8:30 pm local time during the annual Earth Hour.

The Earth Hour was originated in Sydney with a simple appeal to people and businesses to turn off their lights for an hour to raise awareness on carbon pollution and climate change.
