Aviation Commission Bill tabled in Dewan Rakyat

The proposed Malaysian Aviation Commission is to monitor the economics of the industry at the global and local level to encourage economic ties, integration and growth, commerce, investment and tourism.
The Malaysian Aviation Commission Bill, which is aimed at controlling the public aviation industry, was tabled for first reading in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.
The bill, which was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar would pave the way for the setting up of the Malaysian Aviation Commission which would be independent in its functions.
These include monitoring the economics of the industry at the global and local level to encourage economic ties, integration and growth, commerce, investment and tourism.
The commission would also be responsible for encouraging healthy competition in the public aviation industry in a profitable, efficient and just manner.
It would also need to set up the mechanism to protect consumers including their right to quality products and service at reasonable prices, as well as in helping to resolve consumer complaints.
Other bills which were tabled for the first reading were the Securities Commission (Amendment) Bill 2015; the Capital Markets and Services (Amendment) Bill 2015 and the Retirement Fund (Amendment) Bill 2015.
