Petaling Jaya Selatan Member of Parliament, Hee Loy Sian has shown complete disregard for parliamentary freedom when he filed a lawsuit against the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia,
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said in a statement here today, said that Hee's action had tarnished the good name of the Dewan Rakyat.
"As a lawmaker, the PKR member of parliament must be aware of what the Federal Constitution says about the rights and privileges of parliament."
Azalina said the action was a deliberate attempt to make the issue a polemic as there were other ways that could be done including by submitting a proposal to the Speaker.
"The issue raised had been explained by the Speaker in a press conference last week," she added.
Pandikar expressed regret that the MP had dragged him to court after his two questions related to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in parliament were rejected.
